Also called “Riviera del Corallo”, Alghero is one of the most visited tourist destinations in Sardinia. The town is famous for the strong Spanish influence (it is also known as “Barceloneta”) and it has ancient monuments of great beauty, such as the Spanish towers and bastions.
Among the different natural attractions, there are the Neptune’s Caves, Capo Caccia Promontory and Punta Giglio. However, in Alghero, you can also visit important monuments, such as Saint Mary’s Cathedral, Palmavera nuragic complex, the Coral Museum, Anghelu Ruiu necropolis and Alghero Acquarium.
